tempo - Spanish Sevillanas with Amira Brock
Tempo Workshops
Sevillanas is a popular partner dance of four verses from Andalucia, featured at the Ferias (Festivals) which are held annually in Southern Spain. It is at least two centuries old. Widely inclusive, it's danced male/female, or by two women, or a grandmother and grandchild, reflecting it's joyous holiday setting.
tempo - Cheek to Cheek
duets showcase
Tempo loves a good shindig, and what better way to end the TAPAC season than with a dance party - duet style. Cheek to Cheek celebrates partner dancing and duets by beautifully, humorously and dramatically exploring the space and relationship between two bodies.
You may even recognise a few familiar faces, as the gorgeous stars of Dancing with the Stars share the floor with other movers and shakers to dazzle and amaze - two by two.
tempo - Short Dance Films
NZ made dance films
The art of dance on screen has developed exponentially since video cameras were finally affordable to choreographers in the last decade of the 20th century. Like music videos changed the popular music scene, dance videos are set to rip apart the assumptions about dance and dance film. Tempo presents a variety of short dance films as a special programme which will include NZ Film Archive's material and the latest from the NZ dance artists of today.
tempo - Old Yeller
Curated by Liz Kirk and Ann Dewey
Old Yeller, award winner of 'Most Inspiring Performances' at Tempo 07, is an evening of short works by professional dancers who have made their indelible mark on New Zealand and international dance over the last 50 years. Be sure to catch what these refined dance makers have been up to lately.
tempo - enTer

tempo - Flicker
Spinning Sun
Four dancers elegantly create a sense of magic from light to dark, silence to sound in a lyrical and energising dance work that leaves audiences mesmerised and invigorated. Flicker is a humorous series of images and half-remembered stories from the childhood memories of choreographer Ann Dewey, featuring a stunning soundtrack by John Gibson and David Gilmour.
